The repoussé work done on this hand hammered ingot bracelet was done similarly to the method of swedging. Where, in this case, rounded grooves would be made in a block of wood and the rounded chisel runs along the back to create the relief on the front. Chisel and file work is used to define the lines on the top and stamp the repeated design along the center and edges. What a beautiful outcome! Some attribute this style to Pueblo silversmiths, and I have seen a similar one that was collected in Taos in the 1890s. Whether it was Pueblo or Navajo, it is a wonderful piece of historic Native American silver work.
